Tizen SDK Install Guide (Certificate & Extensions included)

Installing the Tizen SDK

 1. Access the Tizen SDK Installer.

 Go to https://developer.tizen.org, scroll down the page, and click the applicable SDK version button.


 2. Download the appropriate Installer for your OS.

 Note that the IDE Installer installs the SDK based on the GUI, while the CLI Installer installs the SDK based on the CLI.


3. Launch the Installer: 

  • Ubuntu: Apply the execute permission through the chmod +x command.
  • Windows®: Double-click the installer executable file.
  • Max OS®: Double-click the .dmg installer file to open, and double-click the installer icon.

 If you download an Alternative Locations installer, the default package server of the Update Manager sets the CDN server URL accordingly: 

  • Default: download.tizen.org
  • Global: usa.sdk-dl.tizen.org
  • Brazil: brazil.sdk-dl.tizen.org
  • China/India: singapore.sdk-dl.tizen.org

After the installation, you can change the package server URL in the Update Manager configuration. (You can perform cross-updates among the package servers.)

4. Use the Installer to install the SDK.

 Before the installation, you must accept the Software License Agreement and set the Installation Location.

When you are ready to start the installation, click the install button.


※ Note that if the installation location is not empty, you cannot use that path to install the SDK. Click the location path and change the installation location to an empty directory.


The SDK has now been installed with basic packages and you can start developing Web applications. 

Launching the Update Manager

To launch the Update manager:

  • After the SDK installation, the Installer opens a pop-up dialog from which you can launch the Update Manager automatically.


  • To launch the Update Manager manually later on

Ubuntu: Dashboard Home → Update Manager


Windows®: Start → All Programs → Tizen SDK → Update Manager


Mac OS®: Launchpad → Update Manager


Managing Packages in the Update Manager

 To manage packages: 

  • Check for package updates.

The Update tab in the Update Manager displays the packages that require updates.
To update all packages, click Update All.

  •  Install and remove packages.

The All Packages tab in the Update Manager allows you to install additional packages (such as the native application development environment, Emulator, and TAU) or remove packages you no longer need.

If the package installation requires you to first accept EULA (End User License Agreement), click . 

If package has dependency packages that need an update, update those packages first.

To start developing native applications, install the native app. development packages.



Deleting the SDK

 To delete the SDK, remove all packages in the Update Manager. On the All Packages tab, click  Uninstall All.



 Configuring the Update Manager

 You can configure the install option, proxy settings, and extra repositories in the Update Manager. On the All Packages tab, click Configuration.


Install Option

1. In the Configuration window, select the Install Option tab.

 2. Select the Package Server configuration for the SDK Image installation configuration.

Select the package server, or enter the package server URL manually.

 If you use an alternative URL provided as a preset, you can cross-update the SDK across multiple servers.

 3. To display the latest packages, check the Auto Update check box.

 If you select a past snapshot rather than a current snapshot, the Update Manager removes the SDK and reinstalls all packages.


You can also use the SDK Image instead of the package server (this option is provided to support 3rd party developers). Select the SDK Image configuration and browse to the SDK Image file.



Proxy Settings 

 In the Configuration window, select the Proxy Settings tab and set the proxy configuration. 

Extra Repository

 In the Configuration window, select the Extra Repository tab and set the installable Extension package URL. When the Update Manager is connected to the package server, it lists all default extension packages. 


To add an extension package, click Add and define the repository details. You can add an extension that is saved locally or located in a server.


The extension packages can be installed and uninstalled similarly as other SDK packages on the All Package tab of the Update Manager. They are listed under Extras.


Certificate Extension

After the certification extension is installed, you can request and register a certificate on Tizen IDE.(Mobile / Wearable / TV)

Samsung TV extensions

After the TV Extension SDK is installed, you can make tizen TV application projects.


You can see TV-SAMSUNG-PUBLIC-2.4 projects on project wizard.


Also, you can use tv emulator profile.
